We saved you a seat.
Walking into a new church can feel like a lot. Here's everything you might wonder about before Sunday — plainly answered, no surprises.
What time, and where
Worship is Sundays at 11:00 am, with Sunday School for all ages at 10:00 am. The service usually lasts about an hour.
4178 Mt. Hermon Rock Creek Rd, Graham, NC 27253 — a country church on Mt. Hermon Rock Creek Road, a few minutes south of Graham.
Parking is free and right beside the building; there's no lot to hunt for. Greeters at the door will point you anywhere you need to go.
What to expect
The service
A warm, traditional service — hymns, scripture, prayer, and a sermon that speaks to real life. About an hour, start to finish.
The music
Familiar, beloved hymns. If a melody feels familiar, sing along — nobody's grading you.
Communion
We share communion the first Sunday of each month, and the table is open — you don't have to be a member, or a Methodist, to receive.
What to wear
There is no dress code. You'll see Sunday best and blue jeans in the same pew. Come as you are — we mean it.
Coming with kids
Kids are welcome in worship — wiggles and all. We currently don't provide childcare.
Accessibility
Step-free entrance, accessible seating and restrooms. And every service is livestreamed on YouTube for anyone who can't join us in person.
Our Welcome, In Full
A Lighthouse Congregation
Mt. Hermon is a safe harbor for anyone seeking a church home — especially those who have experienced trauma, neglect, or division in the Church. We are an open, affirming, trauma-aware congregation. That means your story is safe here, your questions are welcome here, and nothing about who you are needs to be left in the parking lot. All means all. No fine print.
Still have questions?
We'd love to hear from you before Sunday.
Our story
Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church has been a gathering place for the Mt. Hermon Rock Creek Road community for generations — a country church where neighbors have been baptized, married, mourned, and fed, often within the same walls in the same week.
Today that long history carries a present-tense calling: to be a lighthouse for the people around us — steady, visible, and safe to steer toward.
What we believe
One faith, told in three parts — consolidated from the church's existing beliefs pages.
Our Christian beliefs
We share the historic Christian faith: one God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — revealed in Jesus Christ, known through scripture, and alive in the church today.
Our beliefs about salvation
Salvation is God's free gift of grace — grace that goes before us, meets us in faith, and keeps working on us our whole lives long.
Wesleyan heritage
We stand in the tradition of John Wesley: a practical faith of the warmed heart — personal holiness and social holiness, never one without the other.
